Into the abyss
This ghastly incurious
This overwrought thing
Still-life sparking amongst
The denied dead.
A gibbet swinging listless
A lifeless, desolate windswept thing
Slipping and sobbing through the
Backalleys haunting
Ghostly taunting
A wan and waning existence.
Is tugged
Not so gently
Teased and twisted
Spun blown and dragged
Toward the edge
The edge
Edge
And tumbles, writhes
Swoons and falls
End over end
Darkness enclosed
And down
Down
Down and yet
Down
Eyes fading into the gloom
Chill thoughts whispering by
An age upon ages.
This fall
It is eternal
The tumbling
Without cease
And so we plunge
Into
The abyss.
