Jettison

Sometimes the way forward

Is to cut loose the past,

To set it free, even if it's

Expensive, and painful, and

Filled with recrimination.

Especially then, for that

Past is a dead weight,

A drying up of the soul

And its work.

The huge horizons can open

Without the bitter handicap

And life can become

Wonderful and beautiful

Again.
