Idle
Let the idle swing,
Sway and dance through
The halls
And call mercy on
My soul a'thirst
Wanting, yearning,
Drowning
Gasping for breath
Midst a
Desert, a
Drought, a
Vast distant plan
'Pon which dust devils
Twist into the
Noon.
Let the idle break
The void,
The curse laid
Red-lipped
On a life
Chose by another
Chosen for me
Let it crack a
Fraction then
Agape to
Rend asunder
The busy
And the fuss
And the bother.
Let the idle swell
Fill the world with
Red roses bloomed
For they can,
Just a moment
Consequential
Open bridge
In the swing
Of the night sky.
Let the idle sit
With its cicada thrum
Softening in the
Distance,
Backed rock
Whispering
To me quietly
To join
Insistent.
