Summer
The sun is climbing
Higher in the sky
Days longer
Breeze stronger
Summer comes.
A long promised
Ache of heat and
Sweat and languid
Bushland clicking
With the bugs
As they subside
Before the day.
Summers coming in her
Ripeness, her over
Tempestuous fullness
Her hard baked rocks
Still sparkle ocean,
Quiet laughter.
She is sweeping way
The clamour, the din
The nervous stammer
Of an age, and a time
And a restless.
She brings peace, she
brings forgiveness,
I be unfurling
In a grandeur that
Steeps rich in
Its everlastings
For she comes into
The bright light, the
Bold the ever white light.
Yes she comes in
Thick groans and
Heavy pleasure.
The dust filled shimmer
Settles on the land
And on the vision
And it's rich and it is
Full, and it is
Welcome.
