Black cockatoos
As I walked in Kings Park
This morning to write
A great flock of black
Cockatoos escorted me
Cross the threshold and
Waited for me to finish.
Their shrill calls ringing out
Their low swooping diving
Flight, the crunch of nuts in beaks.
The black cockatoors escorted me
A spider scurried across before me
A great grass seed emerged from the
Sunlight and flew past my face
Not six inches from my nose.
The world is talking to me
Once again, and telling me to
Stand strong, stand for you,
You matter. There are riches
In you beyond compare.
It was good
To see the
Black cockatoors.
