Kings Park silence

The lorikeets raucous
And everywhere
Looking along branches
For nesting hollows
Cheeping and squawking
Arguing over
Who and where.

Crows chime in
Surveying the scene to
Find what gives,
Where opportunity to
Cavil and cajole
High above solitary.

And the trees murmur
Leaves rattle
On the ground
This is silence
Out here
In the park
Not quiet
Nor still,
But peaceful
Calm
Thrumming
With living.
