They Left

One day I woke, a
Cool cloudsome day and
They had left.

The cities, the fields
The vast distant plains
Abandoned,
All gone in
One Almighty Rapture.

Billions taken away
In the night
To leave me
Alone.

Alone to witness
The passing,
The passing
Of humanity
To give a
True reckoning of her
Deeds her misdeeds
Her strides and her stumbles.

And to live out
The rest of my days
In fierce desolate solitude.
