Settling for the night

The magpie settles for the
Night, a chill warble before
Silent.

The horses champ, the fire
Stamps its embers on the
Heavens.

The dust rides dry in the
Crack of my life, red-hewn and
Tired.

There's another day and another and
Another before the dawn that will not
Arise.

Time stretch to eternity, compressed to a
Moment, of now, of never, of
Forever.

There would be some way to end this
Tortured roaming, ceaseless twisted
Searching.

Except there is not, there is never
Any time when this time is beyond
Time.

And so the lizards sleep, the shadows
Creep from the blaze descending down into
Ashes.
