Dragon

Tonight I entered our
Little cob cottage
Warm earthen walls
Radiating calm a
Crowd of spirits and
Supporters of all kinds
Around me.

I stood and I looked
Down the stairs to the
Basement, and I
Looked and I walked
To the threshold.

Down the dark, down
The dim, down the
Damp creaking
Staircase, down I
Walked to the sound,
Sound that called me.

Through basement and
Through tunnel, rich
Brown earth smelled
Passage, lit up as
Passed then again
Dark behind me.

I roamed and I
Wandered, well lost
Beneath the dark
Earth 'til I came
Upon a cavern and
A being.

Ancient dragon lay
There, upon his
Obligatory pile of
Gold coins and he
Regarded me with
Old and blazing eye.

And he spoke, he
Spoke through me,
Spoke inside and
Yet spoke to me,
Told of a life
Well live in the
Fearsome and
The fury.

Now he lay here
And he waited
For the one who
Comes before him
Sits and listens
And comes deep
Inside his stories.

This I listened, thus
He spake, for an
Hour and forever
'Til he bade me
Stand before him
And I became him.

I saw all he told
Of, flexed great
Wings and claws
Of power, felt
The flames bellow
Deep within my gullet.

And we laughed,
Laughed the two
Of us, in rejoice
At freedom within us
And thus I strode, a man
Through ancient tunnels,
Light around us.

Within my human body
Upon the walls,
Lay cast my shadow
Outstretched wings
Fearsome head
Trickling smoke upward
And I walked and we
Walked into sunshine
Into the great world.

And I know we
Live forever, thought
Tonight is but a
Glimmer in the
Ancient past and
Eternal future laid
Before us.

A man, a dragon
A fiery powerful
Being who does not
Will not yield
In his purpose.

To be alive amongst
The living, bring
Them strength
Bring them protection
To lend potent
Danger writ upon
The heavens.

So I'm here, so I
Remember, so I
Become in all my
Glory, be my
Witness watch me
Soar watch me
Bear
    Thee
